Travel to Malta to visit an amazing small European country in the middle of the Mediterranean. It is an archipelago of three main islands, Malta, Gozo and Comino, located between Sicily, Italy and coast of North Africa.

The islands have an ancient history with ruins of the oldest buildings in existence. Being close to Tunisia, there is a distinct North African influence. The Maltese language is derived from Arabic mixed with Italian.

Located on the tiny island of Comino, it is called the perfect natural swimming pool. The crystal-clear waters remind us of the South Pacific, also because of the white sands.

The waters are so calm that makes this place ideal for families with small children, since the waters are also shallow.

It is great for swimming or sun-tanning under the umbrellas that are provided for a fee. It is best to arrive early, because it may be full by 10 am.

The Capital of Malta is an important seaport part of this elegant and fortified city. Everywhere you may see the testimony of the Knights of Malta, the European noblemen who were granted the Maltese Islands by the King of Spain in 1530.

They created a capital on par with other great European Capitals, seen on its squares and urban planning. It is surrounded by two harbors, the Grand Harbor and the Marsamxett Harbor.

Of the three Maltese islands this is the most beautiful with a great landscape, quiet towns and amazing beaches.

If you are looking for a relaxing laid-back vacation, this is the place to be although there are many places to visit during your stay on the island.

The island features a fortified medieval city, Victoria together with a bustling seaside resort, Marsalforn. It is also the places of the most important archaeological site of the Maltese Islands, Ggantija Temples dating back to around 3500 BC.

The Island of Gozo is accessible by ferry from Cirkewwa on the Island of Malta.

The Medieval Hilltop Town Mdina

Located in the Island of Malta, this is like fairy-tale city. To enter you must go through the Main Gate leading to a non-car fully pedestrian streets and beautiful sandstone buildings.

The most important site is the Cathedral of Saint Paul, a glorious Baroque building designed by the Maltese architect Lorenzo Gafa.

Rabat Malta

Located near Mdina, it is part of the latest as a suburb and real working city with many historical attractions such as Casa Bernard a grand 16th century palace.

Visit the Roman Villa, an archaeological site also called Domus Romana with outstanding mosaics, some of the oldest in the Mediterranean area.

Hal Saflieni Hypogeum

This UNESCO site dating to the prehistoric era, is an underground Neolithic cult site that was discovered in 1902.  It is a complex of catacombs and underground labyrinths known as the "Holy of Holies."

It may be visited on reserved guided tours due to the great efforts to maintain its state of preservation.

The Blue Grotto on the Island of Malta

The Blue Grotto on the Island of Malta

Located in the big island of Malta, it is approached through a winding road on a cliff high above the Mediterranean Sea. It is in a site called Wied iz Zurrieq where the Grand Marshall Copier and a cavalry squadron destroyed the Turkish Armada on the eve of the Great Siege of 1565.

Mythology says the it was the home of the sirens or sea nymphs, who captivated the sailors with their charm.

You may take a brightly painted boat, called luzzus, for a 25-minute sea-ride to visit the Blue Grotto, a 30-meter-high cave with a deep pool of water. It is best to visit during the mornings when the sunlight best illuminates the water.

Golden Bay Beach

Surrounded by mountains and cliffs, this beach in northwestern Malta is easily accessible by car or bus.

It is a real beach escape far from the traffic of Valletta. The waters are clean and ideal for swimming and sun-tanning. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for a fee. For the perfect beachside relaxation experience, there are cafés and restaurants with terraces and gorgeous sea views.

Ghajn Tuffieha Bay

They are located two km from Golden Bay. It is worth the drive to these unspoiled beaches surrounded by cliffs and sloping hillside.

Ghajn Tuffieha is loved by locals who appreciate the quiet, peaceful environment. The waters are safe for swimming except when the red flag is up, indicating strong currents.


Located on the scenic countryside of the Island of Malta, it is very popular among locals. Also, many visitors like this beach because it is the largest stretch of beach on the island.

The waters are clean and shallow, making it ideal for families with small children.

Known as a "European destination of excellence," the picturesque village of Mellieha stands on a craggy hilltop overlooking the pastoral landscape of rocky outcrops, vine-covered hills, and small farms.

The flag of Malta or Bandiera ta' Malta is a basic bi-color, with white in the hoist and red in the fly. A representation of the George Cross, awarded to Malta by George VI of the United Kingdom in 1942, is carried, edged with red, in the canton of the white stripe.
