St Peters Square in front of the Basilica in the Vatican
The Proud Capital of Italy
Rome, the Eternal City, the Capital of Italy is so fascinating that it attracts millions of visitors on a yearly basis. We should remember that the world’s smallest country the Vatican lies inside the city of Rome and it attracts by itself millions of pilgrims to its squares and buildings.
This combination has made Rome one of the most visited places in the world. I first visited Rome in 1960 and have seen the changes during my many visits during the years.
Rome is a bustling city with so much traffic, that certain streets and small alleys have been closed to motor vehicles. That said, I highly recommend visiting Rome with an organized tour or in case you want to be on your own, use taxis and public transportation.
